Rosalind Chao (Soon Lee on M*A*S*H) is celebrating her birthday today. She is very cool, but is definitely getting a pretty raw deal, because the other person with whom she’s sharing a birthday is Larry Linville. He died on April 10th three years ago from pneumonia due to complications from a cancer operation. He did a marvelous job on the M*A*S*H series, drawing sympathy and affection for an otherwise despicable character and making the whole thing look effortless. He will be missed.
I’ve been around a lot of pain this week, trying to make sure everyone is dealing capably with a death which is significantly closer to the Queen’s community. There’s nothing really I can say except I’m here for you, I’ve said it before but I want to stress it again; if you want to talk, go ahead. If it’s 5 o’clock in the morning, don’t worry, as this blog proves I’m usually up then anyway. It’s hard, I know, eventually it’ll get easier. Just remember that you can always come to me and we’ll eat ice cream and watch Sixteen Candles and forget it, or we’ll talk and cry and do whatever needs to be done to make you feel better.
