My paper is finished so I’ve been reading about the Doctor Who theme today, and boy, was it a huge undertaking. Listen to this:
The original 1963 arrangement of the Doctor Who theme is widely regarded as a significant and innovative piece of electronic music. Recorded before the widespread introduction of synthesisers, Delia Derbyshire used musique concrète techniques. Each and every note was painstakingly handcrafted using pre-recorded individually struck piano strings as well as electronic equipment such as wave signal generators, noise generators, filters and square- and sine-wave oscillators (which were themselves rare at the time), with the results pitch-shifted if necessary. Each individual note in the Doctor Who theme was individually created using these instruments, and recorded onto magnetic tape.
It goes on.

So I hate making chicken that isn’t stir-fried, almost to the point that my only dish is curry. I’ve never come across a broiled chicken that I liked. I had some chicken thighs in the freezer today, so I thought I would try my hand at baking again. This time it worked! It was delicious.
I used this recipe for Easy Garlic Broiled Chicken, with various modifications to form the following recipe:

The lame thing about subscribing to Penny Arcade’s RSS feed is that you get news posts interspersed with the comics. I read these posts from time to time, and in such cases I come across things like this:
If your Pokemon fights another Pokemon that’s really fast… it earns a point towards it’s speed Effort Value (EV). For every four of these points that you get your Pokemon will gain one more point to it’s speed stat when it levels up…. The problem is that these EV’s are invisible and limited. So there’s only a certain number of them that a single Pokemon can take advantage of and there’s no way to track them in game. I got tips like “create a spreadsheet for each of your Pokemoin with rows for all their stats and manualy enter any EV’s they get…”
Create a spreadsheet?
Then I started reading about IV’s and I saw this shit:
Now that I’ve showed how much they can affect stats, let’s grab the equation for determining a Pokemon’s Individual Value. Keep in mind that this is NOT for Hit Points. That has its own equation.
IV = ((Math.Ceiling(Stat / Personality Value) – 5) * 100 / Level Value ) – 2 * Base Stat – Effort Points / 4
Are you fucking serious? I never got past algebra. All I want to do is show people my Pokemons, not build a Goddamn time machine!
I need to read these news posts more often. If only they were about the ridiculousness of Pokemon all the time.
I mentioned to Tavis that I wished there was a version of Pokemon Snap for Playstation, and he reminded me that N64s are pretty much doorstops at Goodwill. If I can find a copy of the game for cheap, maybe I’ll pick one up.
BTW Mario Galaxy has Mario in a bee costume, hat-tip to Tavis again for alerting me to this hilarious fact. He’s pretty much the place where I get all my gaming news. I want to play Mario Galaxy, it looks fun even though I would suck at it.
