My knitting blog is now located at the Needle Exchange!

Guess what I bought!

The model reminds me of Allyson Hannigan. This pattern is going to be a challenge, but also incredibly awesome.

Overheard in New York

These are pretty funny.

On a side note, The Story of Menstruation has a great bit where they tell you it’s a myth that you’re not supposed to exercise when you’re menstruating, but you don’t have to worry about that anyway because all you do all day is dust couches and clean the dishes.

Does this look like a chemotherapy patient?

April 27th, 2006 at 7:04 pm (Arts & Culture)

Apparently these two met and fell in love during this season of CSI: Miami. She was busted for buying pot to combat the effects of chemo. That hair grew back fast. Give me the name of that woman’s stylist.

Box Count: almost 4!

Box Count: 2, CD Count: 300+?

April 27th, 2006 at 5:55 pm (Tales of the Swamp)

Some interesting things I discovered while sorting through my CDs to make sure they were all there:

  1. Apparently I already own Sheik Yerbouti by Frank Zappa. I was looking to buy it a few weeks ago and now I’m glad I didn’t find it because that’s too many copies for one girl. Two girls, maybe, but not one, no matter how cool Frank Zappa is. I almost did that with Sweet Baby James by James Taylor once; Les had to remind me I already owned it.
  2. Ironically, I can’t find my Sweet Baby James CD.
  3. Apparently I also own two Sloan CDs. I didn’t realize I’d bought Smeared. And Waka/Jawaka, apparently.
  4. No amount of time can come between me and the music I listened to in grade 9. I was so cool back then. Except for those pants I always wore. What was I thinking? Possibly, “I am an army tent.”
  5. CDs I’m missing: The Best of BTO, Prozzak - Hot Show, Radiohead - The Bends & OK Computer, Lhasa - The Living Road, Green Day - Nimrod.

Box Count: 1

April 27th, 2006 at 4:47 pm (Tales of the Swamp, Arts & Culture, Knitting)

I’m packing right now for my move on the 29th, but all I really want to do is cast on. I’m going to try a lace pattern for the first time that will hopefully turn into a hat for my aunt. I can’t really find any circular lace patterns so I think I’m going to have to make one up.

I’ve packed up a box of books that will go into storage because I’ve decided it’s naive to think I’ll do anything but schoolwork for the next year. I’m going to keep the standbys, of course; Fierce Invalids, Dance of the Voodoo Handbag, Mash, etc. All my cogsci-related books I’ll keep around, but I doubt I’ll have to refer to the History of Pink Floyd anytime soon.

Snowdrift Mittens: Done!

April 26th, 2006 at 10:33 pm (Knitting, Finished Projects)

Finished Project #5 for 2006 :)

Snowdrift Mittens: Done!

I had to cut into it last night and make a hole for a thumb. Yes, that’s right, I forgot the thumb hole when I was knitting the second one. I’m so embarrassed.

Snowdrift Mittens, finished April 25, 2006
Pattern: a modification of the pattern here.
Yarn: Blue and white Phentax acrylic yarn (it’s really pretty and soft, which makes up for the forced cheepnis because I couldn’t find a yarn store when I was buying it)
Needles: 4.25mm dpns
Dimensions: slightly too long, but I’ll make alterations when I can compare them to my aunt’s hands.
